Kate Lundy
I’m very excited to announce the recent appointment of the Hon Kate Lundy to the Cablex advisory board says Michael Zimmer CEO of Cablex. Kate’s extensive political, Industry and strategic experience will perfectly compliment and strengthen the Cablex AB team.
Cablex’s advisory board was established to provide guidance on strategic direction, corporate goals and to optimise the Cablex governance framework that enables sustainable growth.
Having served as Senator in the Federal Parliament for nearly 20 years, Kate Lundy resigned 6 years ago to focus her energy on technology and innovation in the private sector. Whilst serving in the Federal Parliament, Kate held various front bench portfolios across both Government and Opposition, including Sport, Recreation and Health Promotion, Local Government, IT, Innovation, Digital Economy, Manufacturing and Multicultural Affairs.
In 2017, the Australian National University awarded Kate a Doctor of Letters (honorary doctorate) for her “exceptional contributions to advocacy and policy for information communications and technology, for the ACT and nationally.” Kate was also inducted into the Pearcey Foundation’s Hall of Fame for “Distinguished lifetime achievement and contributions to the development and growth of the Information and Communications Technology Industry."
Now in the private sector, Kate now holds a number of company directorships including the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre, Electro Optic Systems, the National Roads and Motoring Association, the National Youth Science Forum, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and the Canberra Institute of Technology, as well as her own consulting company, Technology
Innovation Partners Pty Ltd. Kate is an ACT Defence Industry Ambassador and has been appointed to the Australian Space Industry Leaders Forum.

Bill Brown
Chairman
Bill Brown is a seasoned director, executive and advisor with international experience who can confidently combine business insights and legal knowledge to add value in large, complex, regulated enterprises.
Over the last three decades Mr Brown has specialised in risk management and governance with a particular emphasis on regulated industry sectors. Bill is a Principal of Orange Advisory Services Pty Ltd, in Melbourne. He has had partnership level roles with leading Australian law firms. In his senior executive roles, Bill was General Counsel/Manager Legal & Regulatory at 2 ASX listed companies and general counsel to a then privately owned emerging (now ASX listed) Australian exporter of leisure products and systems.
In addition to Cablex, Bill is a director of Australian Turntable Company Pty Ltd, a member of the board of South West Healthcare and inaugural chair of the board of Grampians Health. He is also chairman of the advisory board at Eastern & Allied Pty Ltd.
Rear Admiral (retired) Raydon Gates
Rear Admiral (retired) Raydon Gates retired from the Royal Australian Navy in 2008 after 37 years. His sea service culminated with the command of two guided missile frigates; his flag officer (two-star) appointments include the inaugural Commander of the Australian Defence College, Maritime Commander Australia (including operational service during the 2003 Iraq war), and defence attaché and head Australian defence staff (Washington DC).
His civilian career was highlighted as Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand from 2011-2017. He was CEO of the Kokoda Foundation 2010-2011. He was appointed Defence Advocate for Western Australia in 2017, a position he continues to hold. He holds a number of pro-bono appointments, including University of NSW Canberra Advisory Council, and University of Adelaide Research Unit on Military Law and Ethics. He has also held mentoring and coaching roles in Leadership and Strategic studies at the Australian Defence College.
Raydon has been awarded a master's degree in business administration (Monash), a graduate diploma in strategic studies and a diploma of company directorship. He is a graduate of a number of strategic leadership management programs from Mt Eliza (Victoria) Management College, Australian Graduate School of Management, Oxford University and Harvard University.
His honours and awards include his appointment as an Officer in the Order of Australia, the Conspicuous Service Medal, the United States’ Legion of Merit and the French Order of Maritime Merit. He has also been appointed as an Honorary Fellow of Monash University.
John O’Callaghan
John “Johnno” O’Callaghan had a 15 year career in Defence working in a range of areas, as follows: Executive Assistant to the Secretary, Department of Defence; Senior Executive Officer, Intelligence and Security Co-ordination; Assistant Secretary, Major Capital Equipment Coordination; Assistant Secretary, Special Naval Communications Project; and, Private Secretary to former Minister for Defence, the Hon. Kim C Beazley MP. Johnno later became senior parliamentary adviser to Mr. Beazley.
In the lead up to the Olympic Games in Sydney in the Year 2000, Johnno undertook the role of Chief of Staff to the NSW Minister for Public Works, the Hon Morris Iemma MP. This portfolio was responsible for major capital works upgrades to cater for the large number of visitors to Sydney during the Olympic Games.
Johnno’s private sector experience included two years as Corporate Affairs Manager for leading dairy and beverages company, Bonlac Foods (now Fonterra) and eight years as government relations adviser to Virgin Australia.
In mid-2013, Johnno formally joined the Australian Industry Group as a Director responsible for government relations and defence industry matters. He also has the role of Executive Director of the Australian Industry Group Defence Council advocating on behalf of and supporting the Chief Executive Officers of Australia’s leading defence companies on issues relevant to the health and future of defence industry in Australia.
In February 2019, Johnno was appointed as Victorian Defence Industry Advocate. He also chairs the Victorian Defence Council and Defence Science Institute Advisory Board.
Stuart Bland
Stu is an experienced CFO with over 20 years of corporate development and commercial experience in the technology sector in both listed and unlisted businesses, with a track record of delivering high returns and sustained growth.
In addition to his Cablex Advisory Board role, Stu is advisor to the Board at Kieser Training (a business operating in the allied health space), as well as CFO at Panviva. Panviva is a provider of guided assistance to support both internal users and external customers, with a leading solution for chatbot/AI supported omni-channel digital enagement. Prior to Panviva, Stu was CFO at Melbourne IT (MLB.ASX) and before this he was CFO at IRESS Limited (IRE.ASX) for 14 years. In both these positions he had a broad remit with his responsibilities including corporate development, legal, investor relations, tax and treasury as well as significant HR and systems components.
Stu’s listed high-growth technology company experience is further supported by his prior commercial and financial positions at an executive level across multiple industries including telecommunications, biotechnology, and the wine industry, as well as his 9 years at PwC.
